A tractor-trailer accident in Roane County yesterday (Tuesday, December 4, 2017) snarled west bound traffic on Interstate 40. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a witness told troopers a black Nissan heading east at the 352 mile marker lost control in a heavy rainfall and hit the right front of a 2009 Freightliner driven by 54-year-old Server Mamedov of Dallas, Texas. Mamedov lost control of the tractor-trailer and went through cable barriers, the median and hit a guard rail in the westbound travel lanes. The Nissan then fled the scene. Traffic was backed up in the westbound lanes for a while as crews worked to remove the tractor-trailer from the scene. (Picture in story by Jennifer Lilly)
