TRACTOR TRAILER ACCIDENT CLOSES HIGHWAY 127 IN NORTH FENTRESS COUNTY

The Fentress County Fire Department with mutual aid from the Crossville and Cumberland County fire departments responded to a tractor trailer accident this morning on Highway 127. The overturned tractor trailer went off the highway two miles south of the Pickett County line and was hauling a hazardous material. The Tennessee Highway Patrol says no leaks took place after the accident but a hazardous materials team was called to the scene. The unnamed driver of the tractor trailer was treated for non-life threatening injuries. The highway was closed in the area for several hours. Larger vehicles heading northbound in Fentress County towards Kentucky had to detour leaving Jamestown on Highway 52 and 85 to Livingston then Highway 111 north to get back on Highway 127 at the state line.
