TRACTOR TRAILER ACCIDENT CLOSES INTERSTATE 40 FOR HOURS

A tractor-trailer accident at the 300 mile marker of Interstate 40 late yesterday afternoon (Monday, September 11, 2017) resulted in one injury and the interstate being closed for several hours. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a 2017 Freightliner driven by 24-year-old Alisher Radjabov of Brooklyn, New York was traveling west and entered a construction zone. The driver over corrected and hit a guard rail on the right side of the interstate. The tractor-trailer then crashed on top of the bridge, overturned and fell off the bridge landing onto Highway 70 in Monterey. The cab and trailer both landed on their top coming to a final rest. Radjabov was transported by ambulance to Cookeville Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. Troopers say weather was not a factor in the crash. Traffic was either shut down or down to one lane in the area of the accident for several hours last night as troopers investigated the wreck and later cleaned up.
