TRACTOR-TRAILER ACCIDENT REDUCES I-40 WESTBOUND TO ONE LANE
A tractor-trailer accident yesterday morning in eastern Cumberland County on Interstate 40 resulted in traffic being down to one lane for hours. The Tennessee Highway Patrol says a 2006 Volvo tractor-trailer hauling a John Deere tractor operated by 49-year-old Norman Rutherford of South Carolina was traveling at the 335 westbound mile marker when he came up an icy area of the road. Rutherford lost control and jackknife the rig in a curve. Rutherford was restrained at the time of the accident and was not hurt.
