TRACTOR-TRAILER CRASH TIES UP INTERSTATE TRAFFIC FOR HOURS

A Tractor-trailer driver has been cited by the Tennessee Highway patrol after he wreck early Wednesday morning while traveling on I-40 in Cumberland County. The accident occurred around 3 AM when the rig, driven by 22-year-old Arun Chowdhary of Pennsylvania, failed to negotiate a curve in the westbound lane around mile marker 314. THP says the rig jack-knifed while running off the right side of the roadway, traveled into a woodline and struck several trees before coming to rest. The crash tied up traffic on the interstate for several hours. Chowdhary was not injured and was charged with failing to maintain lane of travel.
