TRACTOR-TRAILER FIRE ON INTERSTATE 75 BACKS UP TRAFFIC

A tractor-trailer fire early this morning (Friday, June 30, 2017) on Interstate 75 in Loudon County resulted in no injuries. The Tennessee Highway Patrol, along with fire crews, responded to the 79 mile marker northbound to find the rig hauling water melons on fire. The driver escaped with no injuries. Firefighters put out the blaze but not before the entire cab and part of the trailer was destroyed. As of 9:20 am eastern this morning, traffic was still down to one lane backing up traffic for miles.
