TRAFFIC STOP FOR BROKEN TAILLIGHT RESULTS IN PASSENGER ARRESTED FOR DRUGS

On October 7, 2025, at approximately 10:55 PM, Deputy Benjamin Broderdorf of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Plateau Road near Linder Loop in Crossville after observing a white Honda Civic with a non-functional tag light and a damaged taillight.
Tiffany Candice Hatmaker, a 42-year-old white female, was a passenger. During the interaction with the driver, Deputy Broderdorf noted Hatmaker’s anxious behavior and spotted a burnt marijuana cigarette in the passenger door handle. Hatmaker admitted to possessing a small amount of marijuana and methamphetamine in her purse.
A search of the purse revealed marijuana, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and a scale. Further inspection uncovered a hidden compartment in a flashlight containing a white powder, later identified as heroin, and additional methamphetamine. Field tests confirmed the presence of heroin and methamphetamine.
Due to the quantity and packaging of the drugs, along with the presence of a scale, Hatmaker was arrested and charged with manufacturing, delivering, or selling controlled substances and methamphetamines.
She was transported to the Justice Center for booking without incident.
