TRAFFIC STOP IN PUTNAM COUNTY RESULTS IN HUGE DRUG BUST

On September 6, 2024, Sgt. Matt Scott conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 40 on a driver who was possibly impaired. The driver, Tony Lee McCloud, refused to get out of the vehicle initially but later was removed from the vehicle by Sgt. Scott and other Deputies. As a result of the stop, as well as a vehicle search, approximately 43 grams of cocaine, 15 grams of methamphetamine, 11 grams of crack cocaine, and other various drug paraphernalia, along with $8,331 in US currency, and a firearm was recovered. It was later determined that based on McCloud’s criminal history, he was a convicted felon.
McCloud was charged with possession of manufacture/sell/delivery of a controlled substance, possession of manufacture/sell/delivery of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, driving under the influence, resisting arrest, and possession of drug paraphernalia. McCloud has a total bond of $248,300 with a court date set as October 7, 2024.
