TRIO ARRESTED AFTER TRAFFIC STOP FOR TOO-DARK WINDOW TINT

Thursday afternoon, while on patrol along Highway 68, Cumberland County deputies conducted a routine traffic stop on a truck for a window-tint violation. The arrest report states the window tint was so dark, deputies couldn’t see how many people were in the vehicle, let alone whether any of them was wearing a safety belt.

In speaking with the three occupants of the truck, deputies determined none of them had a valid driver’s license. When asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle, 24-year-old passenger Elias Vaughn Flynn of Crossville, said to be the owner of the vehicle, admitted he had a meth syringe in the glove compartment. He consented to a search of the vehicle, and all three gave consent to personal searches.

Flynn had a used syringe in his pocket that tested positive for meth.

The other passenger, 23-year-old Kayla Michelle Richardson of Crossville, admitted to having some meth hidden inside her boots; deputies retrieved about half a gram of meth.

The arrest report states deputies found “another used syringe in the glove compartment”; it was unclear whether that was the one Flynn admitted having in there, or if it was an a third syringe.

The driver, 44-year-old Toby Joe Lee Godsey of Crossville, was found to have active warrants in Cumberland County.

All three were taken into custody. Godsey was served the outstanding warrants and was placed under $1,250 bond; he was due in court today.

Charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, Flynn was placed under $1,000 bond; Richardson was charged with simple possession and placed under $2,000 bond. Flynn and Richardson are due in court May 6.

Godsey was due in court today.
