COUNTERFEIT BILLS CONFISCATED AT DOLLAR GENERAL IN CRAB ORCHARD

When a Cumberland County investigator arrived at the Dollar General on Highway 70 East in Crab Orchard last week about a prior theft, the manager told him she’d just been given 14 counterfeit $1 bills to purchase items. The woman who presented them told the manager she didn’t know the bills were phony, and said she’d received them from the Shell station up the street.

The customer returned shortly afterward to pay for her items.

After confiscating the counterfeit bills, the investigator went to speak with the manager at the Shell station, who said they’d received counterfeit bills but denied giving any out to customers.

The manager of the Dollar General said the woman is a regular customer and she will attempt to get more information from her the next time she returns, so investigators can attempt to track the origin of the counterfeit bills.
