The Tennessee Highway Patrol and medics responded to a tractor-trailer accident on I-40 in Cumberland County around midnight. Initial reports states the 2014 Peterbilt operated by 50-year-old Omar A. Ammouri of Pennsylvania was traveling west near mile marker 314 when he left the road on the left side, went into the median and into a wooded area. The cab and car hauler impacted several trees before coming to rest. Ammouri was not hurt. A passenger, 41-year-old Ahmen Mohamed Kassem from Virginia, sustained minor injuries.

Traffic was slow in the area for a few hours as a result of the crash and will be again later today when the wreckage is removed.
