TWO ARRESTED AFTER BREAKING INTO CABIN BELONGING TO ROANE COUNTY DEPUTY

A Cumberland County deputy received a call Sunday from a Roane County deputy stating he owns a log cabin on Dan Gill Lane. The officer was observing in real-time by way of a remote video surveillance camera an unknown male and female breaking into the cabin.

Cumberland County deputies responded to the area and deployed on foot from the intersection of Mount Roosevelt Road and Dan Gill Lane. Officers observed two separate sets of foot tracks in the snow leading to the cabin.

Officers encountered 42-year-old Raymond Lawrence Smith of Rockwood and 33-year-old Chasity Ruth Simpson of Oakdale.

Both suspects were escorted from the cabin back to where deputies parked their patrol cruisers.

Simpson was reportedly found in possession of meth. She was charged with the manufacture, sale, delivery, or possession of meth and aggravated burglary. Her bond was set at a total of $29,000.

Smith was arrested for aggravated burglary. His bond was set at $24,000.
