TWO ARRESTED AFTER STEALING ITEMS FROM CHURCH IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY

Two individuals are facing theft charges after allegedly stealing from a church in Cumberland County. Deputies responded to Crab Orchard Christian Church where they reviewed a surveillance video showing a man breaking into a barn and then walking out to the porch area, piling up items. A vehicle then pulls up, driven by a female; the items are loaded into the car and both subjects leave. The pastor told officers the items were donated for an upcoming yard sale. Later in the day, officers located the vehicle and arrested 52-year-old James Mark Riggs and 48-year-old Claudine Bertha Downs, both of Crab Orchard, and charged both with theft of property.
