TWO ARRESTED FOR THEFT AT TRACTOR SUPPLY
On March 25, 2025, Officer Matthew Charlock responded to a theft at Tractor Supply. An employee reported seeing a white male in a black hat, gray shirt, and blue jeans carrying two boxes with anti-theft devices, which are typically removed after purchase. The suspect left in a blue Chevy Astro van with a female and a small dog inside. Video footage showed the male entering the store at 12:00 PM, exiting at 12:10 PM with two Lithium Battery Jump Starters, throwing them over a fence, and retrieving them after exiting the front doors at 12:12 PM to avoid detection.
The employee provided the van’s tag number, and Officer Charlock sent images of the vehicle, tag, and suspect to the Lake Tansi Police Department, who identified the suspects as possibly Shawn Sheets and Jane Lee based on prior encounters. Later, at a location on Springwater Circle, Officer Charlock contacted both suspects. Sheets initially denied involvement but later admitted to stealing the jump starters, stating he sold one to Ole Dave’s Pawn and Gun, while Lee sold the other to Marina Pawn. Lee confirmed she was with Sheets at Tractor Supply, saw him return with the boxes, and admitted to selling one jump starter at Marina Pawn but claimed not to recall the other’s location.
Both Sheets and Lee were read their Miranda Rights, understood them, and spoke with Officer Charlock. They were arrested—Sheets for Theft of Property Involving Merchandise and Lee for Theft of Property—and transported to the Cumberland County Justice Center.
Detective Harthun was tasked with retrieving the items from the pawn shops the next day.
