TWO ARRESTED ON DRUG CHARGES DURING CUMBERLAND COUNTY TRAFFIC STOP
On June 2, 2026, Deputy Holden Atkinson of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a black Jeep with no rear lights on East Highway 70 near Ozone Falls, eventually bringing the vehicle to a stop at Renegade Mountain in Rockwood. Upon approaching the vehicle, Deputy Atkinson detected the odor of marijuana. The driver granted consent to search the vehicle, and the two passengers—Dylan Ray Napier (27) and Grady Joe Godsey (43)—were asked to exit.
The subsequent search of the vehicle and its contents yielded multiple items of drug paraphernalia. In a backpack belonging to front-seat passenger Dylan Napier, Deputy Atkinson discovered a glass methamphetamine pipe with burnt residue and a marijuana joint. A search of the back seat revealed a second backpack belonging to Grady Godsey, which contained a magnetic concealment box holding another methamphetamine pipe and burnt foil with a brown powder residue suspected to be heroin; a search of Grady’s person also uncovered a tooter straw with residue.
Both Dylan Napier and Grady Godsey were arrested on-view at approximately 9:38 PM and transported to the Cumberland County Jail. Each offender has been charged with one count of Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia with a bond set at $1,500.00, and both are scheduled to appear in General Sessions court on July 13, 2026.
