TWO DRIVERS ESCAPE INJURY IN A VEHICLE ACCIDENT ON I-40 NEAR BRIDGE INSPECTION SITE IN CUMBERLAND CO.
Two drivers escaped injury in a vehicle accident yesterday afternoon on I-40 in eastern Cumberland County. Trooper Jack Alderman says a 2014 Hyundai Sonata driven by 22-year-old Abigail Martin of Nashville and a 2018 Chevy Silverado operated by 29-year-old Juan Torres of Brandenburg, Kentucky were both traveling west near the 329 mile marker when Martin rear ended Torres. Martin was charged with failure to exercise due care and vehicle registration violation. The accident happened near the site TDOT is inspection a bridge and the area the accident happened took place where traffic was merging into one lane. Troopers ask motorists to use extreme caution in this area as work on the bridge will run into June 2020.
