TWO FACE MURDER CHARGES IN SMITH COUNTY DOUBLE HOMICIDE
An investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has resulted in the arrest and indictment of two men charged in a Smith County double homicide that occurred earlier this year.
At the request of 15th District Attorney General Tommy Thompson, agents joined investigators with the DA’s office and deputies with the Smith County Sheriff’s Office in investigating the homicide of two men found deceased at 153 Dillehay Road. Deputies responding to a call of a suspicious vehicle at that address found the bodies of 38-year-old Shannon Smith of Sparta and 45-year-old Devon Clark of Murfreesboro. During the course of the investigation, agents developed information that identified two men as those responsible for the deaths of Smith and Clark.
Yesterday, the Smith County Grand Jury returned indictments charging 53-year-old David Bibian of Pleasant Shade and 18-year-old Alain Benitez of Lebanon each with two counts of second-degree murder. Bibian was arrested yesterday and booked into the Smith County Jail, and Benitez was booked today. Both are currently being held without bond.
