TWO GRIMSLEY MEN ARRESTED ON METHAMPHETAMINE CHARGES AFTER CROSSVILLE TRAFFIC STOP

Two Grimsley men face drug charges following a traffic stop conducted by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday night, August 9, 2026.

According to an incident report filed by Deputy Holden Atkinson, deputies pulled over a silver Chrysler on East Mayland Road at approximately 8:30 PM after the vehicle failed to maintain its lane and nearly collided head-on with another driver.

The driver was identified as 65-year-old Glen Allen Swallows (pictured), and the passenger as 61-year-old James Swallows, both residents of Grimsley.

Following consent to search the vehicle—prompted by furtive movements observed before the stop—deputies recovered a cigarette carton from the center console containing a cellophane baggie with approximately 1.04 grams of a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine.

Neither occupant claimed ownership of the narcotics. Glen Swallows was taken into custody and booked on a charge of manufacturing, delivering, selling, or possessing methamphetamine, with bond set at $2,000 and a court date scheduled for September 21, 2026.

James Swallows experienced a medical emergency during the stop and requested emergency medical services. He was transported to a hospital, and a warrant for the same methamphetamine charge will be served upon his release.
