Troopers and medics responded yesterday around noon to a vehicle accident on I-40 in Cumberland County.

The crash report states a 2004 Nissan Sentra driven by 55-year-old Jeffrey A. McGill of Tennessee and a 2017 Freightliner tractor-trailer operated by 32-year-old Christopher T. Williams of Georgia were traveling east at the 322-mile marker.

For a reason not indicated in the report, Williams was traveling slowly.

Troopers say the Nissan rear-ended the Freightliner.

McGill ran off the road and came to rest in the median.

The report says McGill and a passenger, 62-year-old Darrell Lykes, sustained injuries in the crash.

Williams was not hurt.
