TWO MEN CHARGED WITH CHILD SEX CRIMES IN TENNESSEE
In Sumner County, Tennessee, Dennis Gilliam was convicted on 20 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor following a jury trial, facing up to 120 years in prison without parole for possessing hundreds of graphic images and videos depicting child rape and torture.
The evidence, discovered after independent investigators tipped off authorities about Gilliam’s activities in a chat room, was described as deeply disturbing by prosecutors, who noted the emotional toll on the jury. His sentencing is scheduled for August 2025.
In a separate case in Franklin, Tennessee, former soccer coach Camilo Campos-Hurtado, 65, pleaded guilty to multiple federal charges, including four counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and immigration-related offenses. The investigation began in June 2023 when a cellphone left at a Marco’s Pizza revealed videos and photos of Campos raping unconscious boys aged 9 to 17, with additional child sexual abuse material found on other devices from 2017 to 2021.
Facing a minimum of 15 years and up to life in prison, Campos, who lacks legal U.S. status, will be deported to Mexico after serving his sentence, with sentencing set for October 29, 2025.
Both cases highlight the severe impact of child exploitation and the commitment to holding perpetrators accountable.
