WBIR reports that two Morgan County detectives were involved in a shooting on Thursday afternoon after responding to a call about a person with a gun on CCC Road near Malachi Drive, according to District Attorney Russell Johnson. Upon arrival, an exchange of gunfire occurred, resulting in the individual being shot twice.

Early reports suggest the wounds are not life-threatening, and the individual was airlifted by LifeStar to the University of Tennessee Hospital. It remains unclear whether one or both detectives fired their weapons after being shot at first. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is leading the investigation, with three members of the DA’s office en route to the scene and one already present.
