TWO RADAR-CONFIRMED TORNADOES HIT MIDDLE TENNESSEE MONDAY
Two radar-confirmed tornadoes touched down in Middle Tennessee Monday afternoon.
The first tornado touched down in Wilson County on the Smith County line. The second went through downtown Smithville in DeKalb County.
The National Weather Service confirms an EF-1 tornado touched down in Smithville on Monday. The tornado was 100 mph and covered 3.30 miles with a path width at 150 yards. There are no injuries or deaths from the tornado, but various trees were broken, snapped or uprooted during the tornado, NWS adds.
Additionally, several farm buildings lost roofing, and a couple of homes suffered serious roof, garage, and exterior wall damage. The tornado touched down east of Highway 70 in northwest Smithville then moved east paralleling Allen Ferry Road. The worst damage sustained from the tornado was along Highway 56, north of Smith Road.
The National Weather Service will survey the damage in those areas today.
