A Friday evening collision on Miller Avenue resulted in injuries and significant vehicle damage after a red Honda CR-V merged directly into the path of a Toyota sedan, according to the Crossville Police Department.

The incident occurred on September 11, 2026, at approximately 5:05 PM near the Sparta Drive intersection. Patrolman Colten Johns responded to the scene, where investigators determined that 73-year-old Susan Elizabeth Stark of Crossville was operating a 2013 Honda CR-V and attempting to merge from the right travel lane into the left lane to access a nearby parking lot.

According to an independent witness, the Honda merged into the left lane while a 2005 Toyota sedan, driven by 34-year-old Megan Leeanne Matthews of Athens, was traveling straight through the area. The impact caused disabling damage to both vehicles, which required towing.

While Stark reported no injuries, Matthews sustained suspected serious injuries and was transported by ground EMS to Cumberland Medical Center. Two passengers in the Toyota sustained suspected minor injuries but were not transported by ambulance.

Police noted that weather conditions were clear and the roadway surface was dry at the time of the crash. Investigators concluded that the driver of the Honda likely failed to see the second vehicle in her blind spot, resulting in an improper lane change citation.
