TWRA STRESSING IMPORTANCE OF SAFE BOATING DURING “LAKE SEASON”

With Memorial Day weekend approaching, the holiday is also known as the unofficial start to “lake season”. This year there have already seven deaths on Tennessee waterways. Most of these deaths were preventable with the right safety precautions. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency wants everyone to have a good time out on the water. But, they also want folks to make it back home at the end of the day. TWRA officers will look for impaired drivers that might be driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Officers also stress the importance of wearing a life jacket, no matter how good of a swimmer a person thinks they are. A person is required by law to have enough life jackerts in the boat for how many people are on board.
