UNCOOPERATIVE MAN CHARGED WITH DUI, VIOLATION OF IMPLIED-CONSENT LAW

Sunday afternoon, Cumberland County deputies stopped 48-year-old Michael Anthony Jones on North Main Street for failure to maintain a lane of travel and failure to stop at a red light. The driver, 48-year-old Michael Anthony Jones, smelled strongly of alcohol; he had red, watery eyes, slurred speech and appeared to have urinated on himself. Further, on exiting the vehicle, he was unsteady on his feet.
Jones had two 12-packs of beer behind the front seats. One was full; the other had four unopened beers. There were also four empties in the vehicle.
Jones refused multiple requests to perform field-sobriety tests; he also refused to submit to a breath test, even after a search warrant was obtained. He was taken to EMS Station 1 for a blood draw. Jones was arrested for DUI and violation of the implied-consent law. Bond was set at $5,000. Jones is due in court March 4.
