VEHICLE SET ON FIRE ON ROCK QUARRY ROAD

Cumberland County deputies responded to a possible stolen vehicle on fire last night at 282 Rock Quarry Road. Upon arrival the officer observed a 2002 white Ford Explorer that was burnt beyond identification. A VIN number was retrieved to identity the SUV. They also learned it was not in fact taken without permission.

A male on scene said he did not know who set fire to the automobile.

Further investigation revealed the Ford may have had stolen property inside from a recent burglary in the area.

Law enforcement then responded to a nearby home where surveillance footage captured the blaze being set. It showed a male suspect approach the back of the Explorer, place something in the back of the vehicle through a broken window, stand there for a few seconds then walked away once smoke started to emit from the vehicle.

It soon was engulfed in flames.

Authorities are searching for the suspect for questioning as a result of the fire.
