VICTIM LOSES $400 TO SOFTWARE SCAM
A Cumberland County woman was a recent victim of a scam. The victim told deputies that she had received a phone call from a woman calling herself Jennifer Watson from a computer company called Supremo Software. The caller was very professional sounding and sold the victim a software package that supposedly prevented spam or spyware for $400. The victim paid with a check, but Watson continued to try to get more personal information from the victim. Later the woman received another call from Watson saying she would return the check unless she was given more specific information. The victim told her to just return the check, which has not happened.
