WEATHER WILL ADD PROBLEMS TO BUSIEST TRAVEL DAY OF YEAR

Tomorrow (Wednesday, November 27, 2019) is the busiest travel day of the year as many will be on the road to be with families and friends for the Thanksgiving holiday.

But the weather will not be so nice for drivers.

An approaching front will bring showers and thunderstorms to the listening area starting tonight and go into at least the first half of tomorrow. The high temperature tomorrow is expected around 60 in the mid to late morning. Once the front passes, the temperature will fall throughout the remainder of the day (expected to be in the mid 40’s before sunset). The wind will also be a factor tomorrow as gust up to 35 miles per hour can be experienced. The wind is expected to gust up to 25 miles per hour this evening.

This will cause slick conditions from wet leaves blown on the roads.

Law enforcement will increase their presence over the holiday period looking for speeders, aggressive drivers and ones operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol or drugs. On I-40 in the entire listening area, troopers will be stationed every 20 miles on 12 hour shifts looking for the same.

If you have to travel this Thanksgiving holiday, especially tomorrow (Wednesday), take extra time in going to your destination and use caution.

For Thanksgiving, it will be sunny with a high in the 50’s.

Another system will come into the area for the weekend followed by wintery temperatures.
