WHITE COUNTY SCHOOLS REPORT HOAX THREATS AS SWATTING WAVE CONTINUES EAST
In a message posted on May 19th, White County Schools addressed a concerning situation involving a hoax phone call received that morning by several schools in the Upper Cumberland, including Northfield Elementary. Thanks to the swift response of staff and local law enforcement, the threat was quickly resolved and determined to be false.
Acknowledging the anxiety such incidents cause families, the district noted that neighboring areas are experiencing similar hoax calls. In response, they are increasing local law enforcement presence across campuses for the remainder of the week to ensure safety and peace of mind.
Despite the situation, all scheduled programs and ceremonies will proceed as planned so the community can celebrate the students’ hard work. The district commended Northfield staff, students, and law enforcement for their flawless execution of emergency protocols and thanked the community for their continued trust and partnership as the school year comes to a close.
