WHITE RIBBON CAMPAIGN WEEK DECLARED IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY
Cumberland County Mayor Allen Foster and Crossville Mayor R.J. Crawford declared the third week in October as White Ribbon Campaign Week.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Citizens are encouraged to wear a white ribbon to show awareness of the consequences of all forms of violence against women and underage females.
Statistics show more than 85 percent of domestic abuse victims are women and girls.
In the United States, more than 4 million women are victims of physical violence by intimate partners each year.
Officials say more than ten million children are exposed to domestic violence each year.
