VEC announced this morning that  strong storm system moved through the southern portion of their service area late last night causing widespread damage to the electric grid. Thousands of customers were without electricity for several hours. Crews worked through the night and most customers power has been restored. There were multiple locations where large trees fell across the powerlines, and right-of-way crews were brought in to clear the trees so that work on the damaged lines could begin.
