WOMAN AND TWO CHILDREN HURT IN MORGAN COUNTY VEHICLE ACCIDENT

Three people were injured in a vehicle crash this afternoon (Tuesday, June 6, 2017) in Morgan County. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by 27-year-old Jerica Cavins of Harriman was traveling north on Petros Highway when her vehicle left the road and struck a tree. Cavins, as well as a 6 and 8-year-old child in the vehicle, were all injured. Troopers say two were flown by Lifestar to UT Medical Center. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Cavins reportedly told officers she was reaching for her cell phone that was ringing and got distracted when the accident took place. Officers say Cavins was restrained and the two children were properly in booster seats. Troopers say charges are pending as a result of the accident.
