WOMAN ARRESTED FOR POSSESSION OF METH AT HOTEL IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY

Monday evening, Cumberland County deputies responded to the Comfort Suites to assist the manager with removing property from Room 316. One of the occupants, a Jack Derreberry, had been arrested in Putnam County January 26 on felony drug charges.

On arrival, the deputies encountered 38-year-old Racheal Lynn Owens of Crossville, who said her four-year-old son was asleep in the room. A search of Owens turned up a baggie containing about half a gram of meth.

Inside the room’s refrigerator deputies found a Monster Energy aluminum drink can with a hidden compartment. Inside was a baggie with approximately 2.5 grams of meth. A similar can recovered in Putnam County two days earlier contained approximately two ounces of meth.

Also discovered were numerous unused plastic sandwich bags, a measuring scoop, several used and unused syringes, and two glass pipes with burnt residue.

Owens was charged with felony sale or delivery of meth and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. She was placed under $8,500 bond and has a court appearance scheduled for March 4.

Charges of sale or delivery of meth were also brought against Derreberry, currently incarcerated in the Putnam County jail. Sheriff’s deputies contacted the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office to place a hold on Derreberry.

Owens’ parents took custody of their four-year-old grandson. DCS was contacted on the child’s behalf; the agency will be in touch with the grandparents.
