WOMAN BEHAVING ODDLY IN HARRIMAN PARKING LOT ARRESTED FOR HEROIN TRAFFICKING

Sunday afternoon, Roane County deputies responding to Dollar General in Harriman for a report of a suspicious person found 28-year-old Autumn Adkisson in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. When a deputy announced himself, Adkisson jerked her head up as if shocked to see him. She said she was waiting for her dad. She seemed to be under the influence of some type of narcotic.

A search of the vehicle revealed a container with three plastic bags of white powder and two pieces of orange foil believed to be heroin. On the floorboard was an identical piece of foil with a brown powder believed to be heroin.

A cigarette pack in Adkisson’s purse whose orange foil cover had been torn off matched the foil found on the floorboard. It appeared Adkisson was packaging heroin for resale. In the driver’s-side door were two more orange foil wrappers.

Adkisson was charged with manufacture, sale, delivery, conspiracy or possession of a Schedule I drug (heroin) and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Deputies did not field test the suspected substance for fear it might contain fentanyl.
