WOMAN CLAIMS SHE WAS HIT OFF HER BICYCLE IN HIT AND RUN

On Monday, May 16, an officer was traveling down Hwy 70 in Crossville and encountered a woman who claimed she was hit while riding her bicycle on the shoulder of the highway. The woman, Bessie Ellis said she was traveling east down the highway towards oncoming traffic when a silver SUV with dark tinted windows hit her off her bicycle head-on. She claimed It was a female driver who knocked into her with her front bumper causing her to fall off her bicycle and continued driving and turning into a driveway down the road. When the officer went to locate the female in the hit and run, he determined none of the residents were involved in a crash. The SUV was parked and had no damage. When the officer went back to discuss with Ms. Ellis her story had changed from traveling on the shoulder of the road to being hit in the travel lanes. Her story did not corroborate with her having zero injuries and no damage to her bicycle.

The officer was unable to identify any suspects.
