WOMAN FOUND GUILTY OF LETTING GRANDSON DIE IN BATHTUB

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn, — A Murray County woman accused of leaving her grandson in the bathtub to die has been found guilty.  Last December, Sharon Carrell was charged in the case after investigators found her grandson face down in scalding hot water.  Carrell told investigators that she left the house for only a couple minutes and when she left there was no water in the tub.

She was arrested and charged with second degree murder, cruelty to children, and providing a false statement.  District Attorney Bert Poston confirmed Friday that Carrell was found guilty of cruelty to children 2nd Degree.  Poston says that Carrell has her sentencing hearing on the 23rd of next month.
