WOMAN IN ROCKWOOD FIRE IDENTIFIED

We now know the identity of a woman who was pulled from a smoke-filled home at 426 Lakemont Drive in Rockwood after a fire apparently started in the living room area.
According to Rockwood Police Chief Kelly Pittman, 56-year-old Stacy Powell was rescued after officers arrived on scene, observed the house completely filled with smoke, and waited for the fire department to breach the door and enter. Firefighters and police worked together to bring her to safety outside, where an ambulance was on standby to provide first aid before transporting her to the Rockwood Sports Complex, where a LifeStar helicopter was waiting to fly her to UT Medical Center in Knoxville.
The chief said Powell remains in stable condition as of today and that the exact cause of the fire is still undetermined. The call came in around 2:15 Wednesday afternoon, and the fire department remained on scene for about an hour and a half before departing. Rockwood Fire was assisted by a truck from the Harriman Fire Department as well as other local agencies.
No other injuries were reported, and the fire was contained to a front room of the residence.
