WOMAN KILLED IN MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY
The Tennessee Highway Patrol says a woman was killed in a motorcycle accident on I-40 in western Cumberland County this afternoon. Troopers say a 2007 Harley Davidson XL1 operated by 43-year-old Tiffany Jones of Elizabethton, Tennessee was traveling west at the 306 mile marker when she drifted off the interstate and hit a guard rail. Jones was ejected off the motorcycle and landed in a grassy area north of I-40. The motorcycle continued on the right shoulder for 167 feet before coming to rest.
Lifeforce was called to the scene to land near the crash site on I-40 to fly Jones to an area trauma center. However, air medics could not get Jones stable enough to fly so she was transported by ambulance to Cumberland Medical Center. Lifeforce took off from the interstate and landed at a pad south of the hospital. Jones was pronounced dead from her injuries.
