Putnam County authorities say a woman was shot while walking in Cookeville early this morning. The victim was walking along Jere Whitson Road near North Willow Avenue around 1:30 a.m. when the incident happened. She was taken by private vehicle to Cookeville Regional Medical Center for treatment. The victim told detectives she was approached by a person in a dark hooded sweatshirt who shot her before fleeing. More information regarding this shooting, including the identity of the victim, will be released at a later time.
