WOMAN TRIES TO CASH TWO FRAUDULANT CHECKS BACK-TO-BACK

A Crossville woman has been charged with attempting to cash two fraudulent checks. Police responded to the Genesis Rd. Eco-Travel Plaza where Cheryl Marie Murphy of Cook Rd, was trying to cash a check with the same number of a check that she had cashed the previous day. Officers noted that the check number on the $200 check was the same as the day before. That check had also been in the amount of $200. The employee contacted Comdata about the checks. They told her that the business was being scammed. A computer check also revealed that Murphy had an outstanding warrant. She was taken into custody and booked into the Justice Center.
