I-40 eastbound in Cumberland County turned into a multi-mile backup today and will continue to be like that at times until later this week. Jennifer Flynn with TDOT told 105.7 News this afternoon contract crews are putting down an epoxy overlay on the Daddy’s Creek Bridge at mile marker 326. This requires the bridge to be reduced to one lane until the work is finished. Flynn said the bridge should be fully reopened by or before this Friday (May 28, 2021).

Around noon today, traffic was backed up at least 5 miles.
