Two people were believed to be transported to area trauma centers after a head-on collision in Cumberland County Monday night between 5:30 and 6 PM. Very few details have been released as yet however we do know that the crash involved at least two vehicles. There are conflicting reports as to exactly what caused the crash, but witnesses said that one vehicle got onto eastbound I-40 traveling westbound and caused the crash which happened between mile markers 317-320. TDOT closed down that section of the interstate while emergency responders attended the scene. A Landing Zone was established about a mile east from the wreck and reports were that two Lifestar helicopters landed. There were no reports on how serious the injuries were. For several hours, authorities re-routed traffic from eastbound I-40 onto N. Main St. in Crossville, through Industrial Blvd. and onto Genesis Rd. back onto I-40. 1057 News will have more information on this story as it’s released.
