YOUNG PEOPLE SUBSTANCE— USE RATE DROPS IN TENNESSEE
The amount of young people using substances in Tennessee has declined in all categories, according to a new report by the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration. The report says that in areas like illicit drug use and cigarette use, the amount of young users was almost cut in half compared to the previous two years. These declining trends are at a faster rate than the national average, and are now at or below the national average of youth substance use. Officials say that their main focus has been directed toward educating Tennessee youth on prevention, treatment, and early intervention efforts.
