3 DIE IN PLANE CRASH IN GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK
The search for a missing plane somewhere in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park has turned into tragedy. Troops from the Tennessee National Guard located the crashed, single engine plane Tuesday afternoon between Cole Creek and Bearpen Hollow. Three people were onboard. All were killed. They were the pilot, David Starling, his 8-year-old son Hunter, and Starling’s girlfriend Kim Smith. The flight was coming in from Florida enroute to the Gatlinburg-Pigeon Forge Airport went it went missing. Upon their arrival to the scene, EMS personnel confirmed the deaths.
