Two vehicles were involved in an accident yesterday that resulted in the death of William Ford, age 64.

According to a Tennessee Highway Patrol report, Ford’s 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier vehicle was traveling East on US 70 when it slowed to a stop to turn onto Dorton Access Rd.

The vehicle behind Ford, a 2013 Caterpillar 1HT dump truck, was unable to stop in time and rear-impacted Ford’s vehicle. The dump truck went partially over the rear end of Ford’s vehicle, and his car was pushed until both cars came to a stop in the eastbound lane.

The dump truck driver was uninjured, although the other person in Ford’s vehicle did sustain injuries.
