The suspect wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a Pennsylvania state trooper is dead, state police said Saturday.

A manhunt for 32-year-old Jason Robison was underway after state trooper Landon Weaver was fatally shot while responding to a domestic abuse incident Friday night, Pennsylvania State Police said.  Cpl. Adam Reed confirmed that Robison was killed about 10:30 a.m. during an encounter with police at his mobile home in Huntingdon County.

Weaver was investigating a report of a protection from abuse violation in a Juanita Township home around 6:30 p.m. where the shooting occurred, police said.  Authorities then closed off the remote area to search for the trooper’s killer.  Weaver joined the Pennsylvania State Police in December 2015, and he is the 97th trooper to be killed in the line of duty.

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf offered his condolences to Weaver’s family.  “Landon will always be remembered for his bravery, his sacrifice, and his willingness to serve,” Wolf said in a statement.
