SHERIFF URGES RESIDENTS TO SUPPORT ‘COPS FOR KIDS’ EFFORT

Cumberland County Sheriff Casey Cox has announced his team will be participating in the Salvation Army Cops for Kids Challenge this Saturday, December 1, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., outside the Crossville Walmart.

Cox said members of the sheriff’s department will be at the pharmacy entrance, ringing the Salvation Army bell and raising money for those less fortunate this holiday season. He said it’s always a fun time and a good way to raise money for a worthy cause.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and the Crossville Police Department have been engaged in a ten-year friendly rivalry for ultimate bragging rights. Whichever group raises more money for the Salvation Army claims the coveted Cops for Kids trophy.

The sheriff’s office won the competition last year, but the police department has taken home the trophy six of the previous nine years.
