PLANS FOR NEW ROCKWOOD WATER, GAS & SEWER DEPARTMENT SHOWN OFF AT CITY COUNCIL MEETING
Rockwood City Council members got a look Monday night at drawings for the new Rockwood Water, Gas and Sewer Department facility planned for the downtown district, as well as a new garage and fueling facility near the truck route and South Front Street.
The downtown office will be a single-story brick building at the corner of Front and Rockwood streets, where the utility has acquired three properties. The new complex will feature a drive-thru service and will boast a ’50s and ’60s look, aiming to depict the historic look of downtown Rockwood.
The estimated cost of acquiring properties and the new facilities is around $3.5 million dollars. At this time, authorities say, there is no reason to believe a rate increase would be needed to pay for the new facilities.
