TRESPASSER TRIES TO DISSUADE OFFICERS WITH THREATS TO CALL THE “REAL POLICE”

Late Friday night, Crossville police were engaged in extra patrolling around Old Jamestown Highway for vagrants reported to be living in an abandoned garage. A stairwell leading to the second floor was covered by boards, blocking access.

After police announced their presence, a woman later identified as 43-year-old Paula Jo Manis told them to go away.

When officers attempted to force entry, Manis announced she was “calling 911 for the real police.”

Although the opening was then large enough for her to identify them as police officers, Manis continued to refuse to open the entryway.

Manis, who eventually admitted she knew she didn’t have permission to be at or stay on the premises, was arrested for criminal trespassing.
