THP REPORTS ON MULTI-VEHICLE CHAIN ACCIDENT FRIDAY IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY
1057 News has received the preliminary report of a multi-vehicle chain-accident which occurred on I-40 westbound in Cumberland County Friday afternoon. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, around 2:30 PM, a Nissan Titan driven by Whitney Gutierrez of Kansas, was traveling west, when he lost control, entered a spin and struck a guardrail. A Toyota Rav 4 driven by Thomas McNeill of North Carolina was unable to avoid hitting the Nissan, which was driven into the guardrail a second time and then into the Toyota and a Volvo TT, driven by Theodore Greene of Tennessee. Both the Nissan and Toyota hit again coming to rest in the right hand lane with the Volvo coming to a controlled stop. Both Gutierrez and McNeil received unknown injuries. Greene was uninjured. Almost immediately afterward, a second accident happened as a result of the first. A Toyota Highlander driven by Frank Bills of Tennessee, stopped suddenly after the first wreck. He was then struck in the rear by a Ford F-450 driven by Daniel Kidd, also of Tennessee. That impact sent the Ford into a Honda CTV driven by Daniel White, also of Tennessee. That force sent the Toyota into the rear end of a Freightliner semi driven by Naverne Dinnwiddi of Arizona. Kidd and Bills were injured but their injuries were not listed in the report.
